It took a while for me to get around to this but the P2P Code to go along with my MSDN Article "P2P Programming with WCF and .NET v3.5". I don't know why this code was not available on MSDN in the first place. Any ways, the can be downloaded from here (456.2 KB).
I recently got to know that Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw passed away and the ripe age of 94; I am especially sad to hear that - I cannot explain it - might by my army roots. I think fellow Army brats might get it. May he rest in peace!
I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemies eyes Listen as the crowd would sing: "Now the old king is dead, long live the king!" One minute I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my...
My article on P2P programming with WCF and .NET v3.5 was finally published on MSDN . This was written a few months ago and has been going through the internal process at MS to get published- finally it is up there - better late than never I guess. I discuss the new features for P2P programming in WCF and .NET 3.5 and how things have moved up the stack in...
Avanade in Netherlands went on a campus recruitment drive and seem like they are having too much fun ! In case you are like me and do not understand Dutch, then what it says is "Food for IT guys" and essentially was a marketing drive on various campuses where prospective interns for Avanade were offered some food (looks like chips) in exchange...
If I bought an expensive gadget, I own it and can do anything with it (as long as it is legal of course). So if an update deliberately bricks the gadget how is not bullying? Also is it legal (obviously I am no lawyer). Phht ... and people say Microsoft acts life a bully! I think it might be time to boycott Apple and take my business elsewhere.
... apparently I am after being featured in Avanade Advisor's [somewhat] cheesy video .
It has been so long that I can't remember when I last spoke with my dear old friend Govind . We use to work together back in Seattle. He is one guy who I have a lot of respect for and when he talks, you shutup and listen (yes I know that is very difficult for me to do). It is interesting the twists life throws at one and how everyone adapts and changes...
What? Is that even English? I'll get to answering it in a second. Not sure how many of you know, but for a very long time I have been wanting to do a Masters and also dabble in the world of Academia Research. I have done some commercial research in the past which I thoroughly enjoyed but never done any Academia research - well not yet anyway's. After...
In case you have not been following the news lately, NASA and Stanford University's joint effort - Gravity Probe B after 17-odd months of launch and collecting data has proved one of the two not-as-yet-proven aspect's of Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Simply put (and it will be simple as I only have a fairly basic grasp on Physics - it was one of my favorite...
One of the MSDN Webcasts that I along with Shawn, Dennis, and Chris did on the following topics with some samples from the WCF Pro book. This is a Level 300 Webcast, and there is a lot of material to cover! If you would like us to do a Webcast on any specific topic from WCF let us know - we will see what we can do. Hosting Options COM+ Integration Peer to...
If you recalled my post from a few days ago where I have a folder which mysteriously became "invisible", well there is a fix! Thanks to some of my friends at the mother ship (read Microsoft) in helping out with this - they know who they are and do not need to be named here. One thing before you continue to the steps below, ensure you are connected to Exchange...
We had a team event from work yesterday and went Go Karting - which was the first time for me! It has been something I have been wanting to do for a while but never got around to for one reason or another. It was a lot of fun - we did three rounds of about 15 minutes each with about 10 minutes break in between each session. And other than our team there...
I am quite surprised on how ignorant many people (like I was) are about understanding how the day-to-day activities contribute to Global Warming and the issues we face on this planet. As much as we wishes, unfortunately there is no backup or Undo feature . To understand how our daily lives contribute towards global warming check out the Carbon Calculator...
As some of you are aware the book I was writing titled Pro WCF: Practical Microsoft SOA Implementation is finally finished - w00t! It is right now being set and indexed and it will be off to the press in about three weeks or so. This is published by APress and it should be available by January 22nd - a little longer than usual because of the holiday season...
Nope, you ain't that lucky - I am alive and kicking and just have been quite busy lately (or for a change as some of you might say). Between starting a new project and traveling (with very limited access to emails and the Internet), getting the final chapters and code samples for the book out the door and have friends and relatives over from abroad, does...
Yes, it is one of the simplest rules of grammar, but I still get confused - I call it Writers Block . Technically my mother-tongue is Hindi , and I can speak the "street version" of it and while I can read it - you honestly don't want me to. The fact that most fellow Indians around at that time are in splits and rolling on the floor might give you a clue...
Those who know me, know how much I love Fry's electronics and is the single most thing I miss after moving to London! They finally have a website now ! Although they have had the domain for a while they have not started using it till now. If you have not heard of Fry's (where the heck have you been living dude), then read up more here . Ah, I miss the those...
Hope all of you have an very happy and safe Diwali! http://www.bahree.com/diwali/happydiwaliwithahumor.htm
It is quite unusual for me to blog about non-technical things (other than the usual crappy joke), but there are certain thing which have a profound affect on me and global warming is one of those. Maybe it is the fact that I have seen the shortages first hand while growing up in India (and back then things were better that now, and they are just going to...
I am not really a TV junkie (with the exception of Tom and Jerry and Discovery Channel), but I recently saw a few episodes of a new drama called Numb3rs , which is all about a genius mathematician who uses Maths and helps solve crimes with the FBI. It is pretty cool (and g33ky of course ), check it out if you are into maths - you usually learn something...
I have finally taken the plunge and am going to switch over to a phone running Windows from my existing Symbian based Sony Ericsson P910i . The fact I cannot get emails on the phone is the deal breaker and also since I upgraded to Office 2007, I cannot sync the phone with Outlook. I just ordered the HTC TyTn and I should be getting it in a week or so. You...
Continuing the Living dangerous theme I upgraded this blog to CS 2.1 Beta 2 . It's a painful process (including smoke testing). Anyways it all seems to be working. I also added a couple of new things which are not very evident upfront. One being the completely automatic public turing test to tell humans and computer apart control (or better known as...
It seems I cannot get enough of the adrenaline rush and like to live on the edge. I have further upgraded this blog to run on CS 2.1 (Beta 1) and is now using .NET 2.0 instead of v1.1. and also on the backend is using SQL 2005 instead of SQL 2000. Now all I need to do is sit and pray that nothing breaks.
